Sail America is partnering with SailTime to bring back its Start Sailing Now™ (formerly known as Discover Sailing), which is all about giving beginners a relaxed, hands‑on way to experience sailing for the first time. No pressure, no experience needed, just a chance to get out on the water and see what sailing is all about.
The program is presented by Sail America in partnership with SailTime.
The next Start Sailing Now™ opportunity is at the Newport Beach International Boat Show, April 16-19 in Newport Beach, CA.
The session starts with a 30‑minute introduction where you’ll learn the basics of sailing. That’s followed by a 60‑minute sail, guided by an experienced Captain. Each session is done in small groups, only six people per boat, so it feels personal and comfortable
It’s a great option for first‑timers, families with teens, or anyone who’s ever thought, “I’d love to try sailing someday.” It provides participants with hands-on experience and instruction, including time on the water sailing the latest designs and exploring new technologies.
It is important to note that participants must be 13 years or older, and a signed waiver is required before heading out.
SailTime offers three sessions per day, for each day of the Boat Show. They are:
- 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM
- 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM
- 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM
