Discover Sailing Pavilion Debuts at Adventures in Travel Expo
in (Dec. 21, 2005)
– Sail America, the U.S. national trade association for sailing, is encouraging more travelers and outdoor enthusiasts to go sailing by hosting a Discover Sailing Pavilion exhibit at the Adventures in Travel Expo at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City from Jan 13-15, 2006. The 2,200-square-foot Discover Sailing Pavilion located near the show entrance includes exhibitor booths that will invite adventure travelers to learn how sailing can easily become part of their lifestyle and vacation plans.

More than 500 organizations and 15,000 consumers of adventure/eco travel lifestyle activities, destinations and services are expected to attend the Adventures in Travel Expo. The Trade Day is Friday, January 13 and the show is open to the public on Saturday, January 14 and Sunday, January 15.

“The Discover Sailing Pavilion is comprised of sailing schools, charter/sailing vacation resorts, fractional ownership companies, trailerable sailboats and more illustrating the numerous means in which to become involved in sailing,” said Lia Spinelli, special events coordinator. “Each of these specifically selected categories will furnish show-goers with an opportunity to whet their appetites for a sailing adventure without a large initial financial commitment – solidifying the message that sailing is not a pastime exclusive to the elite; sailing is easy, convenient, fun and affordable.”

Along with hosting interactive demonstrations, expert sailors will be on hand to answer newcomers’ questions – and to provide information, incentives and resources to take sailing lessons or embark on a sailing adventure. New prospects also can watch a montage of sailing video footage displayed on plasma monitors and browse through a selection of entry-level sailing books.

“These enthusiasts are prospects for our lifestyle as well as our livelihood and when they utilize the avenues and resources that we will be providing them in this pavilion, hopefully they will be on the path to becoming hooked on sailing,” said Spinelli. “That is our primary goal.”
